Week Four already! Hard to believe the term is more than a quarter gone. It feels like just yesterday we were coming back after the Easter holidays!
Not a lot going on this week, but some important dates are coming up very quickly - NAPLAN testing will take place in Week 5, and Education Week (including Grandparents' Day and Working Open Day) will be held in Week 6. You should have received an invitation for Grandparents' Day earlier this week. Our robotics program will also be running that week for those who have enrolled.
On Tuesday, information was sent home about a project to be completed (and logged) as part of 3/4H's homework. They have been asked to put together a presentation with information about an aspect of Aboriginal history they are interested in. If they are interested in an area that is not listed on the information sheet, they will need to come and negotiate with me before beginning their research. The students have many options for presenting their work, and I have encouraged them to discuss their options with people at home to make sure the expectations (/hopes!) are consistent. The presentation day will be the culmination of our history unit for this term. Students will have a chance to do a self-assessment as well as presenting their findings.
Two final reminders: if you drop your child off after 8:45am, please accompany them to the office to get a late pass, and then bring them to the classroom. This is for your child's safety, as there is no supervision in the yard after the bell. Also, if your child has been absent for any reason, could you please write a note in their diary or on paper with a reason? We are required to keep records of their absences and it does make it much easier if one is questioned to explain it if we have a documented reason.
That's it for me. Stay warm and dry, and enjoy the weekend!
